VTCT - Level 3 Award
The VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training provides a sound introduction to teaching and training enabling the learner to enter teaching employment and progress on to broader teaching qualifications. This course has been mapped to the relevant NOS and is on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
This qualification is designed to equip a wide range of teachers/trainers and facilitators with the requisite skills and knowledge to fulfil a teaching role such as :-
- Individuals not currently teaching or training,
- Individuals currently teaching and training,
- Individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.
Assessments and Course work
This qualification includes an exciting curriculum to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills to prepare students to start or enhance their teaching careers. The course is delivered in three modules:

During this course, you will learn about the teaching cycle of identifying needs, design and planning lessons, delivery and facilitation of the delivery, and how to assess and evaluate teaching.
As part of this qualification, you are required to build a portfolio of evidence to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:-
- Observed work - at least three peer observations
- Oral questions
- Assignments - at least three assignments will be set as part of this award
- Micro teaching sessions
- Self evaluation
- Professional discussion
An assessed 20 minute micro teaching session delivered by students forms part of this course, with the teaching delivery being assessed by tutors.
Your tutors will set assignments and provide guidance on how to prepare your portfolio of evidence, how to show practical achievements and how to achieve the learning outcomes in this award.
No previous experience is required, however, good written and verbal communication skills would be helpful. Everyone on this course will need to be prepared to work hard individually and as a team.
This award course consist of 2 evenings per month of lecture time for 5 months. We advise an minimum of an hour a day for home study to complete the course. Monthly attendance allows progressive completion of assignments with tutor feedback and guidance.
