VTCT - Level 3 Certficate

Course Overview

This course will provide you with the knowledge of Indian Head Massage and enable you to provide Indian Head Massage treatments as a competent specialist therapist.

The certificate course is broken down into four modules. For each module you will be required to build a portfolio containing evidence of study and assignments.  The  latter mandatory units will help develop your techniques in effective communication, introducing new services and products to your clients, and understanding the importance of operating a safe work environment.

UV30574 Provide Indian Head Massage

This modules covers:-

  • The history and development of Indian Head Massage
  • The benefit and effects of Inida Head Massage
  • Prepartion of work environment, yourself and your client
  • Client consultation process
  • Understanding contra-indications and restrictions to treatment
  • Traditional massage techniques and Chakras
  • The use of oils in Indian Head Massage
  • Inidan Head Massage rountine and how to adapt treatments
  • The importance of client care and home care advice
  • The importance of note taking and records

UV30468 - Client Care and Communication in beauty related industries

This unit overs the various aspects of communicating with clients, assessing their needs, setting expectations, giving recommendations and behaving in a professional manner.
Assignments  - as part of this course you will  complete an assignment to show your understanding.   Your tutors will assess your interaction with clients at clinic sessions and your client will be asked to comment on their experience.


Examination, Assessments and Course work

To complete this module you will need to carry out and evidence 10 treatments. Your tutors will help you plan your work load and assess your treatments with feedback each month.  You will be invited to partake in clinic sessions with clients where tutors or an external assessor will formally assess your treatments on at least three occasions during the clinic sessions.   As part of this course, you will complete an Indian Head Massage workbook to evidence your learning.

To complete this module you will be required to sit an external multiple choice examination  paper where a 70% pass rate is required.

UV30491 - Monitor and Maintain health and safety practice in salon

In this section we cover salon procedures including all aspects of salon safety and security.  You will develop your skills in focusing on health and safety, salon hazards, risk assessments and the implementation of necessary remedial actions.
Assignments - this is an assignment based module with practical in clinic

UV30435 - Promote and sell products and Services

The aim of this unit is to give you the understanding of the importance of retail and client care. This unit provides the wider skills required to be run a successful client focused business.
Assignments - this is an assignment based module.

Entry Requirements

Everyone on this course will need to be prepared to work hard individually and as a team.

Course Duration

This certificate course consist of 2 days per month for 4  months with final examination and assessments in 5 month .  This allows progressive completion of assignments, workbooks and case studies each month with tutor feedback and guidance.
