VTCT Level 3 Certificate

Course Overview

This VTCT Certificate in Stone Therapy massage as been designed to develop your practical skills in how to provide a relaxing and stress relieving treatment using hot and cold stones.  Combined the practical skills, this course develops your knowledge of health and safety as well as client care and communication skills.

The course is broken down into three modules. For each module you will be required to build a portfolio containing evidence of study and assignments.  There are also two external examination papers.

By the end of the course, you will be able to provide stone therapy massage treatments to a high level.

UV30475 – Provide Stone therapy massage

This modules covers:-

  • The history and cultral background of stone therapy
  • Thermotherapy therapeutic valves of temerature
  • Types of stones, their properties and uses
  • Client consultation process
  • Understanding contra-indications and restrictions to treatment
  • How to adapt treatments
  • The importance of client care and home care advice
  • The importance of note taking and records
  • Review of the skeletal, muscual, circulatory and lymphatic systems

Assessments and Course work

To complete this module you will need to pass two external papers (MCQ) and to carry out and evidence 10 treatments. Your tutors will help you plan your work load and assess your treatments with feedback each month.  As part of this course, you will complete a Stone Therapy  workbook to as part of your portfolio.

This modules has a 50/50 spilt of theory and practical. As your skills develop you will invited to partake in clinic sessions with clients. Your tutors will formally assess your treatments on at least four occasions during the clinic sessions.

UV30491 - Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety in practice

In this section we cover the key aspects of good health and safety practice, including risk assessments and associated actions.  Monitoring health and safety, and supporting colleagues/staff in the working environment.
Assignments - this is an assignment based module, with "Observation" during your clinic sessions.

UV30468 - Client Care and Communications

The aim of this unit is to give you the confidence to communicate effectively with clients and how to adapt to suite your client to identity their treatment objectives.  Understanding professional behaviour in our industry and how to deal with client  complaints
Assignments - this is an assignment based module with assessment and feedback from clients during clinic sessions and observation by your assessor on at least three occasions.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirement for this course but everyone on this course will need to be prepared to work hard individually and as a team.

Course Duration

This certificate course consist of  2 days per month for 5 months with final examination and assessments in month 6.  We advise an hour a day for home study. This allows progressive completion of assignments, workbooks and case studies each month with tutor feedback and guidance.
